Council of occupational medicine and occupational risk prevention

Creation

In accordance with the provisions of articles 332 and 333 of the Labour Code Act 65-99 cited above, an advisory council called “Council for Occupational Health and Occupational Risk Prevention” was created under the supervision of the governmental authority responsible for the work.

Missions

The Council of Occupational Medicine and Occupational Risk Prevention is responsible for presenting proposals and opinions to promote the inspection of occupational health and medical services. He is also interested in everything concerning occupational health and safety and the prevention of accidents at work and occupational diseases.

Council members

In accordance with Article 1 of Decree No. 2-04-512 of 29 December 2004, the council of Occupational Medicine and Occupational Risk Prevention includes, in addition to its chairman, the following members.

– Representatives of the:

  • A representative of the governmental authority in charge of health.
  • A representative of the governmental authority responsible for the interior.
  • A representative of the governmental authority in charge of agriculture.
  • A representative of the government authority in charge of trade and industry.
  • A representative of the governmental authority in charge of finance.
  • A representative of the government authority responsible for crafts.
  • A representative of the governmental authority in charge of energy and mines.
  • A representative of the governmental authority in charge of the equipment.
  • A representative of the governmental authority responsible for the administration of national defense.
  • Representatives of the most representative employers’ professional organizations, mandated by these organizations.
  • Representatives of the most representative employee organizations, mandated by these organizations.

The meetings

  • The first council meeting was held on June 28, 2007.
  • The second council meeting was held on April 27, 2010.
  • The third council meeting was held on October 23, 2012.
  • Recommendations of the Third Council Meeting Held on October 23, 2012.
  • Implementation of Convention 187 after its ratification.
  • Adoption of the law on health and safety at work in the public and private sectors.
  • Establishment of a health and safety indicator collection system.
  • Strengthening control over health and safety at work through the support of the labour inspectorate (increasing the number of doctors and engineers in charge of labour inspection by giving them training health and safety.
  • Promotion of a culture of prevention of occupational risks to companies and social partners by organizing information and awareness days on health and safety at work and risk prevention.
  • Implementation and activation of safety and health committees in all reporting institutions to perform their roles, particularly with respect to occupational risk assessment programs and their pre-employment.
  • Organization of health and safety control campaigns.
  • Development of national, sectoral and regional programs for the prevention of occupational risks.
